About Mizoram University
Mizoram University (MZU), established on July 2, 2001, is a central university located in Aizawl, Mizoram. It emerged from the North Eastern Hill University's Mizoram campus, which had been operational since 1978, following the Mizoram Peace Accord of 1986 . Spanning approximately 978 acres, MZU offers a diverse range of undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs across 39 academic departments . The university has been accredited with an 'A' grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) in its second cycle . In the 2024 National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF), MZU was ranked 77th among universities in India . Additionally, it secured the 13th position among central universities in the Northeast region according to the Indian Institutional Ranking Framework (IIRF) 2023 .
